HeKKSaGOn universities share the conviction that major global problems can only be solved by interdisciplinary and international cooperation in research and by the open and free exchange of knowledge. The HeKKSaGOn Conferences and Summer Schools serves as platforms where young, talented doctoral students engage in this cross-disciplinary cooperation. Renowned researchers from each partner university unite to share their expertise and research knowledge to foster further cooperation and technological advancement. The Conferences and Summer Schools inspire talented doctoral students by giving them the opportunity to meet with scientists who have succeeded in initiating new cross-disciplinary innovations in science.
The 10th German-Japanese-University Presidents’ Conference will be held between 30th and 31st of October 2025 in Osaka Japan.

“What Opportunities and Challenges does Artificial Intelligence offer to the Higher Education Sector?” at Göttingen University on September 21st and 22nd, 2023.
Data science and machine learning have become a core topic in academia and industry in the last decade with major breakthroughs in some application fields. Purely data driven methods are still dominating this sector, often called “modern AI”; but increasingly efforts exist to merge those with knowlegde-based symbol manipulation approaches, known from long ago and associated with - what people had called - “GOFAI”.
